Passing of Menno Jonker, Musical Box Collector
By Christopher Proudfoot
I am indeed sorry to hear this sad news. Throughout my time at
Christie's, he was one of my favourite clients, because his taste in
musical boxes was impeccable. Time and again he would ask me to play
musical boxes over the telephone, and usually he was disappointed in
their performance. I got to know instinctively whether he was going
to like a particular movement, and it was gratifying, on the rare
occasions when he did, to be able to help such a true connoisseur of
his subject.
