J.J. McClellan at the Organ
By Paul Morris

J.J. McClellan made at least one Columbia disc recording, which I
certainly had or may indeed still have. It has a small piece missing,
but played well the last time I tried it. The disc would be about 1910
vintage, and I seem to recall it was two numbers from Nevin's "Day in
Venice Suite." Other phonograph collectors may help here.

The organ was a good clear recording of what sounded like a pipe
instrument. But maybe it was a Vocalion organ at close range. As far
as him being "The Paderewski" of the pipe organ, one would have to hear
more than this record to judge.
