Hand-cranked organs expected at Wurlitzer Recall, North Tonawanda
I don't have access to the actual rally registration list, but if
past experience with rallies in this area of the country are any guide,
a very wide range of small instruments can be expected at the COAA
Wurlitzer Band Organ Recall in North Tonawanda on 10-11 July. Of
course there will be several Raffins and homemade organs built from
John Smith plans or Castlewood kits.
The Buffalo-Rochester area is home to several builders and collectors
who tend to travel not more than a hundred miles or so from home.
If they turn out, we may see:
A Hofbauer kit organ,
A Vienna Woods miniature, shoulder-carried 20er busker,
A collection of superb homemade miniature organs,
An antique English Hicks shoulder-carried street piano,
Several antique barrel and roll playing organs in various stages
of restoration.
If you are involved in building a small organ, the rally should be
a source of good ideas and inspiration, as well as fellowship. For
details on times, etc., see the announcement on http://www.coaa.us/
