Hi all, Just a short follow-up to the posting yesterday on the
MMD concerning the forthcoming COAA band organ rally in North
Tonawanda, New York. There are, so far, 42 band organs and other
musical instruments that have registered for the rally on the
Wurlitzer grounds in North Tonawanda.
Among those instruments expected are five Stinsons, including one being
brought by Mr. Stinson, eight Wurlitzers and two Wurlitzer reproductions,
three Bruders, two Raffins, one North Tonawanda Military Band Organ,
two Castlewoods and a whole bunch more, including David Wasson's concert
band organ, "Trudy". The weather is forecast to be sunny and in the 80s
for North Tonawanda, although Mother Nature is sometimes fickle around
Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
If you are in the Northeast USA, you should make a point to attend
this rally. This will be the first and probably only band organ rally
to be held on Wurlitzer grounds. Wal-Mart is poised to descend upon
these venerable grounds with bulldozers and other types of earth moving
equipment to convert the once lush grounds into a megastore parking
lot. True, the Wurlitzer building will remain intact, but the areas
that once displayed well-manicured lawns and victory gardens during
WW2 will be covered with asphalt.
We do have members of the COAA coming from Puerto Rico and Texas,
but you don't have to be a member of the COAA to enjoy the sights and
sounds that will come from all of these machines!
The address of the Wurlitzer building is 908 Niagara Falls Blvd.,
North Tonawanda, New York 14120.
Hope to see you there!
