According to the serial number and external appearance I have a
Wurlitzer 145B band organ made in 1929. Also, according to factory
records it was made with piccolo pipes in place of the bells. It
was originally purchased by C. W. Parker in Leavenworth, Kansas,
and delivered to Reithoffer Shows in 1931. From what I can tell
everything is original and authentic except it has been repainted
two times. Of course 1931 was a while back so I can't be certain.
I've seen lots of photos and drawings but this band organ is the only
145 that I've actually seen in person.
Here's what I am trying to learn. Were late model 145s the same as
146s except for the screen?
The reason I ask is the guts of the 145 band organ look identical to
146 band organs. The pipes, the layout, the valves, the tracker, the
crank, the clutch, the vacuum unit, the wind reservoir and so on are
all just like a 146.
Does anyone have any information on differences between 145s and 146s?
