Hi, You have a misconception about the push-up player. Wilcox & White
made these and they are really player pump organs. This was Wilcox &
White's way to compete with the Aeolian Pianola. These Wilcox & White
player pump organs were able to be played by themselves as an organ or
you could open up the back and line it up to a piano and have a piano
and organ concert.
I would guess the reason these did not last long is of course the
piano would have to be tuned to the organ since retuning reeds would be
impossibly time consuming and what if a person bought a new piano or as
their piano became older it could only be tuned to itself.
I hope that this helps with the history. As for value, who knows --
it most likely needs to be rebuilt or at least thoroughly gone over.
