Who composed the polka, "Souvenir de Cherbourg"? Does it have
something to do with Faust?
This polka was written sometime in the 19th century, and appears
on musical boxes, but I cannot find anything more about it.
Examples of it on cylinder musical boxes are
(1) On a Nicole Freres musical box tunesheet the name appears as
"Souvenir de Cherbourg. Polka. Faust",
(2) On another tunesheet it is written as
"Souvenir de Cherbourg - Polka."

[ The polka and mazurka are related musical styles. Maybe Nicole
[ Freres re-cast the tune as a polka for greater appeal.
