Within the last week or so, an MMD correspondent announced in a posting
that they were clearing out a storage unit and would be sending to
auction various items, including a Hupfeld Orchestrion.
I studied the photo of the instrument on the auction gallery's web site;
I believe that the orchestrion in question is an example of the very
rare Violin Pipe Phonoliszt, which plays Phonoliszt Violina rolls but
which uses pipes rather than real violins to create the violin sound.
Unfortunately, I have deleted the bulletin in question, along with many
others which arrived during a two-week period while I was out of the
country, and cannot be more specific about the date, the place of the
auction or even the name of the person who made the posting. I hope
nevertheless that this information may be of use to someone.
