Thank you to all who responded to my query about making a player piano
quieter. Robbie, I tried your suggestion with the sheepskin but the
sheep objected strongly! I have now obtained a thick lambs-wool Doona
(do you call them that in the U.S. of A.?) and I am going to tape it
to the back of the piano. I'll let you know if it works.

[ Here in the States we'd probably simply ask for a quilt, which
[ to some folk would mean a feather or down comforter, but to others
[ would mean a comforter of polyester "fleece".

[ In Australia, a duvet or down quilt is often called a "Doona",
[ which is a genericized trademark (registered to the Tontine Group)
[ which is derived from the equivalent common Scandinavian term dyne
[ and popularized by the retailer IKEA in the 1970s. Originally the
[ term continental quilt was the standard name used across Australia,
[ and some regions continue to use this term.
