Herb Ziegler wrote about having problems getting the secondary valves
to seat in a Standard Player Action. After struggling with this same
issue I found two items that were giving me trouble. First, the
pouches need to be set deep enough to not interfere with the valve
seating. Herb mentioned that he felt there was enough dish.
Second, if he rebuilt the valves and did not leave enough play in the
inside metal-disk-backed leather facing, they will not easily align and
seat on the stamped metal plates. If just a few of these facings are
out of alignment, they will leak enough to prevent everything from
tightening up on the first few pumps of the foot pedals. Good luck.
