Through the help of Bill Black, I was able to get blotting paper
from the big box office supply stores like Staples or Office Max in
the US. This was a few years ago. It is called "Executive desk
protector paper" because a lot of expensive desks have the slots for
this built in.
The problem is that the kids in the store aisles never heard of the
stuff. It comes in large sheets, and I think in two colors, but the
store I went to only had it in a reddish brown. Depending how close
one is to a metro area, with a lot of high end offices, it may be
a special order item.
Some of these "executive" desks are highly prized. Often, like the
desks in my high school, they were prison-made -- probably the only
piece of fine woodcraft one sees in some of the post-modern century
old offices.
As for my use, I was able to cut the paper to 8-1/2" x 11" and run it
through an inkjet printer. This makes really nice lines for cutting
the gaskets as the ink wicks into the paper.
