Yes, I'm alive and still kicking, although not composing anymore. It
just got to be too much of a hassle, not only the piano rolls but other
things in life as well. Pictures give more immediate feedback and
don't cost as much in time and energy, not to mention $$$.
Remember the old joke? "How do you make a million dollars in piano
rolls?" Answer: "Start off with two million." Not having two million
to start with, plus having a soul-sucking job that I can't get away
from, I just lost interest.
Writing those arrangements was [expletive deleted] hard! I didn't
actually play them; they were worked out note by painstaking note. I
think it was after banging away, turning one of the last tunes into a
symphony arrangement, engraved with parts and everything, only to hear
that it just didn't interest the customer, that was enough to kill any
interest that might have been left.
But enough whining. I'm approaching retirement (2 years to go), and
may pick up the pen again. But for now, pictures are too much fun.
