I note with interest the mention of the Weber Solea in Bulle,
Switzerland. I visited and photographed it twice in the early 1960s,
at which time it was in its original location, but barely playing.
It is a very early model in a custom case. At the time it was not for
sale, and I surmise that this is still the situation.
Later, as interest in automatic musical instruments grew on the
European continent, it was visited by others. The history of Gebr.
Weber, once obscure to the point at which the name was hardly
recognized, is well known. I imagine that today mentions of it can be
found in several different printed sources.
I was delighted to read that it is now playing and can be enjoyed by
patrons.
