Mechanical Music in the Movies & TV
By Mike Morrey

Joe Kemph made a comment about the player piano in "The Twilight Zone."
I'm too young to have seen that show when it was not in reruns or
syndicated, but I have always been a fan of it ever since my first
viewing. Being a hobbyist around electromechanical machines in general
(both musical and entertainment), I've loved my player piano as much as
the one pinball game I own: "Twilight Zone," licensed from the TV show.
   ( More info at http://ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2684 )

One of the interesting features of the game is the Player Piano. To
move forward in the game, you need to shoot the piano often. When a
shot is made, the game will play an animation on the screen of a
nondescript player piano playing a little musical phrase.

The game "Twilight Zone" is one of the most popular pin-games among
collectors now, and any pinball player would be able to recognize the
audio clip of the Player Piano's bit from the game.

As a side note, since I got my real player piano, I've been wanting to
get a short roll produced with the ditty, to have it play on my piano.
I have a puncher I contacted last year willing to do it. I just can't
get the notes translated into MIDI to get it done.
