"de Vondeling" Gasparini 57-key Band Organ
By Alan Smith
Do you know this organ? I am researching the 50-year history of
"de Vondeling" [The Foundling] in America between 1956 and 2006
when it was sent to England for sale. Since then, we have fully
restored the organ, increased its percussion and built a new
front, based on the Gasparini in the Dutch national collection.
It has turned out to be a first class Dutch Street Organ which was
based on an early 20th century Gasparini fairground organ and a similar
aged Limonaire dance band organ rebuilt by J.J. Gillett of Rotterdam
to the Dutch Street Organ sound in the 1950s.
I have been able to learn some of its very recent history through
the kindness of Stephen Kent Goodman of Fresno, but I know nothing of
its earlier life from 1956 to 2004. Prior to that its last photo in
Europe is of its then owner Henk Roos with the two KLM air hostesses
who acted as agents for "a buyer in America".
You might recognise the organ -- for photos then and now please click

And onto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_vIxgcFhrU if you would like
to hear the organ. Any information or possible leads would be most
appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Alan Smith
