I'm pleased to announce the availability of two new recuts of
historically significant 88-note rolls, following my discovery and
recut of "Pleasant Moments" in 2007.
* "Texas Blues (Original)" played by the Composer, Les Copeland --
released on Aeolian Uni-Record #202655 in April 1916
* "Caprice Rag" played by the Composer, James P. Johnson --
released on Artempo #12415 in September 1917
Both of these rolls are ultra-rare, and recut for the first time from
the only known copies. "Caprice Rag" has previously only been recut
before from the performances Johnson recorded for Standard and Aeolian.
This is a very interesting alternate take.
My thanks to Anthony Robinson for his help in recovering the punch
matrix for "Caprice Rag," allowing the recuts to be punched at an
unmatched level of accuracy. Also thanks to Erik York for generously
trusting me his "Caprice Rag" original for scanning and recutting.
The hobby needs more collectors like Erik!
Each roll is priced at $15 plus $4 shipping in the continental USA,
with international shipping available at standard rates. Shipping is
a flat $4 for one or both rolls. Ten copies are initially available,
with a second run possible if demand warrants.
You can view and listen to video performances of both rolls and
also read more detailed descriptions and ordering information at
http://www.pianola.co.nz/reliance.html -- at this stage we'd prefer
PayPal as the method of payment, but will consider others if necessary.
Regards,
Robert Perry
