Ah, the old M. Schulz player with the mini-pneumatics. Loved by few
and hated by many (if you were rebuilding them, that is). Rather than
to put up with the hassle many rebuilders would rather toss them out
the window faster than Clark Kent could change into Superman.
After rebuilding six of these jewels, of which I still have four of
them in my collection of over 50 different players, I have settled on
zephyr skin as the best choice to cover these little pneumatics. Any
thing higher than .002 and you will be looking for a window unless you
can devise a way to put larger lead weights on the back of those
pneumatics.
Oh, and let's not forget the hinge material -- it better be thin and
light. Any binding on this and you will be saying words that will make
a sailor's face turn red. How do I know this? Well, I was in the navy.
I have known several rebuilders that have had great success using thin
pouch material only to suffer a little on the repetition that these old
players are famous for. If done correctly you will have a player that
no other player can match in performance and repetition. Now, that
could be open for debate, but this is from my experience and opinion
for what it's worth.
Thanks, Roger Miller
