Referring to the question from Fred Neece, can I suggest he contact
his nearest reference library and try to get a copy of Arthur W.J.G.
Ord-Hume's book, 'Musical Box: A History and Collector's Guide'
(ISBN-10: 004789007X) or (ISBN-13: 978-0047890079).
Also by the same author, 'Restoring Musical Boxes',
(ISBN-10: 0047890061) or (ISBN-13: 978-0047890062).
The author gives full detail and tips about resetting pins.
One useful thing to remember is the early cylinder pins were very
brittle so they will almost certainly break off. After the later
half of the 1800s the pins were more malleable and can be
straightened with extreme care using a cut-down hypodermic syringe
needle available from your local chemist. They come in different
sizes, use one that closely fits the size of your pins.
Best of luck,
