Thorens Disc Musical Box is Noisy
By Nick Woodeson

I've just acquired a Thorens disc music box in walnut with 20 discs.
What a charming thing it is! All seems fine: spring, comb, start wheel
and so on. The "engine" of the box is noisy though; no massive clicks
or pops apart from on some of the discs (which I guess is down to
warps) -- but the "whir" of the mechanics does make a noise.

I need some advice on basic maintenance. Can I reduce the noise?
Should the mechanism be cleaned and lubricated? If so, how? Where
can I get extra discs in the UK? Any advice most appreciated.

Best regards,
Nick Woodeson, UK
