"Mazeppa, Grand Galop de Concert" by Wollenhaupt
By Charles Schoppe

More information on the word "Mazeppa" in response to Martin Anderson's
request in 091105 MMDigest. "Mazeppa" was an opera scored by Peter
Illych Tchaikovsky based on a Pushkin poem, which centers around
a Russian historical figure, Ivan Steponovich Mazeppa. Since the
word is actually a surname there may be no actual definition other
than perhaps some obscure word in the Russian language.

Hope this is helpful.
Chuck Schoppe, Los Gatos, Calif.
