Way back in 2007 I followed a thread about Edison's concrete
piano, and later phoned a subscriber of the MMD forum to do an
interview. The resulting book, "Edison's Concrete Piano", is now
published! More info at http://www.concretepiano.com/
Also of interest -- we decided to test the effect of concrete on
piano sound, and combined forces with a piano expert, John Hall,
who is developing the Canadian Piano Museum near where I live in
Napanee, Ontario. We encased an upright in concrete, played it
before and afterwards, and compared it. We've got some pictures on
my web site, and the whole thing was filmed by Discovery Channel to
appear on Daily Planet at a later date. I've got a video for YouTube
but it isn't up yet.
If anyone lives in the Kingston, Ontario, area, I'm giving a talk
about it all (and some of the other inventions featured in the book)
and showing the video footage, at the public library in downtown
Kingston, Nov. 5th, this Thursday, at 7 p.m. in the Delahaye room.
Thanks,
