Hello all MMD'ers! I am writing in as I have acquired a Half-
Duo-Art complete upper player action (equipped with the desirable
double-tracker unit) and some expression parts. Expression parts
include the lower expression box, sustain and soft pneumatic and
various original hardware and loose pieces (junction block, some
brackets and screws). My best guestimate for the date of this
equipment is around 1920-25, but I can find out the exact date if
needed as the action has a stamp and chalk serial on the back of the
spool frame. These parts came originally from a Stroud piano, if
I remember correctly.
Everything is in original, un-restored condition, the tubing is
intact but quite brittle, original cloth, etc. Both pedals have
cloth that is still fairly supple, amazing after ~80 years! No
evidence of patch work or rebuild effort upon my inspection.
I'm not sure an appropriate price to ask for this, but would be
open to best offers. I would be open to local offers near Portland,
Oregon, or the surrounding area and I am also open to shipping this
(buyer pays cost), but I would need to be instructed how to ship this.
I can imagine building a plywood crate for this and using expanding
packing foam, but this is only an educated guess. Perhaps if certain
MMD subscribers have shipped large parts like this before they might
email me directly with the best method? I would be most appreciative.
Hopefully these parts can live on in a gutted or repairable piano!
Thank you,
Erik York
