Crane & Sons were a large Liverpool-based musical retail outlet.
They were listed in the Retail section of the 1927 Directory of
British Music Industries, with headquarters in Hanover Street,
Liverpool and 13 branches elsewhere in Britain. A piano that gives
the address as 'Birmingham and Liverpool' was presumably sold though
the Birmingham branch.
Goods sold by them often have the name on a large transfer (decal),
but additionally, in the early years of the 20th century, at least,
they stamped C&S followed by a serial number into the woodwork.
I have seen this on musical boxes and gramophones.
They are not listed in the manufacturing section of the 1927 Directory,
so a piano with the Crane name on it will probably have been bought in,
rather than manufactured by them.
