Protective Coating for Metal Valve Seats
By Don Teach

There has been much debate between friends on how do we seal the metal
valve plates. The general opinion is that we should use automotive
lacquer for metal.

I have tried to soak leather nuts in alcohol in an attempt to reduce
the verdigris and do not know if it works. There are lots of forums
on the net concerning verdigris. I knew it was corrosive but did not
know it was considered a poison 'til I read it on the 'Net. Maybe some
expert will give us an educated preventive.
