Rewinding Ampico B Roll Drive Motors
By Spencer Chase

I need to second the recommendation of Eurton Electric for motor
rewinding. They are completely professional and do excellent work
at competitive rates.

I always say that the way to judge a person or business is the way
they deal with problems. I sent a rare Welte centrifugal vacuum pump
motor to them for rewinding and balancing. I did what I thought was
a good packing job but the parcel shipping service managed to destroy
the motor. The shipping service rejected my claim and refused to
inspect the damaged goods. Eurton was extremely patient waiting for
them to show up for scheduled visits that never happened. They wrote
me an affidavit explaining the shipper's behavior and the damage and
I won a case against the shipping service in small claims court.

When I found a replacement, Eurton mixed and matched the best pieces,
rewound the motor with modern enameled wire to run at 15% greater
speed. They balanced the armature with the fans attached and it is
more powerful and quieter than it was when new. The cost was very
reasonable. Eurton mainly works on very expensive commercial equipment
but they are not afraid of the small unusual antique that others will
have nothing to do with.

The only caution is to pack your antique motor in a steel box so that
it will get to Eurton in one piece.

Best regards,
Spencer Chase
