As a teenager who volunteered at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum
in Norwalk, Connecticut, in the early 1970s, I had the pleasure of
meeting Marty and Elise Roenigk when the museum hosted an exhibit of
band organs, musical boxes and reproducing pianos. It was a wonderful
experience, and in a few years the MBSI had a small permanent exhibit
space on the second floor, and we worked with some very kind people:
the Ryders, Bill Edgerton, Robert Blaise, Larry Hall, Mr. and Mrs.
Glasgow and even Harvey Roehl.
Over the years, I have gotten to see a great many of the people when
attending shows or exhibits, and I look upon that time as some of the
happiest memories for me. Both Marty and Elise were kind with advice
to me when I was thinking about purchasing an item, and always
encouraging to me as well. When I inquired about an item they were
selling, the honesty and candor that they provided helped save me much
aggravation. My heart goes out to Elise, and to the many people who
will miss them for the good works that they made a part of their
everyday lives. Thank you, Marty.
