I am Elise Roenigk's brother and am writing on her behalf to update
you on her condition.
Elise and Marty were in western Iowa to pick up a music box and were
traveling on a rural highway. Elise missed seeing a stop sign and
their van was struck on the passenger side by a pickup truck. Marty
perished instantly as did his beloved Irish setter, Aine.
Elise was airlifted to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
She sustained a badly broken arm which will be repaired on Monday.
She also has chemical burns on her back and face from the gasoline
that drenched her as she hung upside down in the van after the impact.
We expect that she will be in Omaha until at least Thursday, so no
final arrangements for Marty will be made until we know that she is
able to be at home in Eureka Springs.
Cards and letters may be sent to Elise at 75 Prospect Avenue, Eureka
Springs, Arkansas 72632. In lieu of flowers, she suggests a small
donation in Marty's name to Main Stage, one of many non-profit
organizations that they have supported in Eureka Springs for the past
13 years. The address is Main Stage, 67 North Main, Eureka Springs,
AR 72632.
As you can well imagine, this loss has been devastating to Elise and
our families. She is trying to remain positive to be able to heal
her injuries but will need our continual support (ours and yours) over
the next few months to heal her soul. Please remember her in your
thoughts and prayers. And maybe in a couple of weeks send her some
more encouragement.
Thanks for your support,
Rick Feutz
