Seek Pictures of Ampico Roll Production Area
By Michael Swanson
I have been having some very interesting email exchanges with
a couple of East Coast roll collectors that have a great deal of
knowledge about American Piano Co. and specifically anything that
pertains to the Ampico. Alan Mueller has a great deal of information
about the company from various sources.
One of the questions posed to him was about the roll department at
Ampico and the possible existence of pictures of the manufacturing
floor showing all of the perforators. He said that he didn't know
of any. It seems that with all of the publicity photos they took of
various operations in the piano, roll editing and research department
surely they must have photographed the roll production area. Does
anyone know of the possible existence of photos showing the perforators
in action from any period in the company's history?
How about Aeolian? Rex Lawson has posted some wonderful photos of the
roll department of the British Aeolian Co. on the web, but what of the
American counterpart?
