Band Organs at Great Circus Parade, Milwaukee, WI
By Gregory Filardo
The Great Circus Parade is spectacular but the real event is going
to the lakefront to see the wagons and circus which puts on live
performances, food vendors and what we like -- six or seven band
organs scattered about the grounds. They are far enough apart so
that they do not detract from each other. They usually are set up
by Wednesday and play through Saturday with the parade on Sunday.
This is free and open to the public.
This event has not been held for several years and with the cost
involved may not happen annually as it once did. It is probably
the most beautiful setting in all of America. What could be better?
A park setting with the backdrop of the city buildings, Lake Michigan
to the east, carved wagons from the best circus shows of all time,
the music of the organs commingled with the cool summer breeze from the
lake at twilight...
