In answer to the replies by Robbie:
1. Yes, he was the collector Frederick Fried of New York City, former
MSBI historian. Your information is correct, Fred's "folk art archives"
were donated to Smithsonian Institution. The items that I am looking
for are the daily logs (journals) that George used to record his
day-to-day business activities in. It is my remembrance that they were
given to an institution of higher learning, not as part of the gift to
the Smithsonian.
2. The web site at which Robbie pointed out the pages by Terry Hathaway
were a joint effort of Terry, myself and my partner in the Wurlitzer
Mandolin Pianorchestra Model 33a, Joe Hanulec, that recounts the history
of this unique orchestrion:
