Seek Help Tuning North Tonawanda Band Organ
By Kary Barnett

Hello, I am looking for information on a style 82/182 North Tonawanda
Military Band Organ. I need to know what notes the 15 brass trumpets
play.

I have rebuilt this organ from a "basket case". I have all the other
pipes in the organ tuned and they sound great. They tuned at one note
lower than a Wurlitzer. Now all I need to do is finish the trumpets.

I have spent many hours trying to tune the trumpets to the organ and
they will not play the same notes. The last 6 notes on the low side of
the rank are the ones that will not tune. The 9 higher notes tune with
the rest of the organ and they sound great.

I have even sent the entire rank of trumpets to Organ Supply Industries
in Erie, Pennsylvania. They tried to get these 6 low trumpets to match
the 9 higher trumpets and the rest of the organ. They tried changing
the shallot size but they said the pipes still would not play the
needed note. They sent them back and told me they could not get them
to play these notes and they did not know why or what is wrong.

Is there anyone that has one of these organs that could let me know
what notes their trumpets play or any suggestions? Thank you very much
for your time.
