If anyone wants a MIDI file of the Ampico "Chimes" roll, I have it, as
well as the various hours in separate files. This roll does not have
quarter-hour chimes, just hours from about 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
I scanned the roll and broke up the various hourly pieces to work with
my "Virtual Ampichron," which is a MIDI event scheduler that acts like
an Ampichron. It plays the music as piano and the chimes as tubular
bells.
I also wrote a more general program "Carillon," which I gave away last
Christmas. It is on my website as Christmas Carillon because it comes
with carols that play on the hour. But it can be edited to play any
MIDI file. I also have a newer version that has a shuffle play
feature, with which you can select a folder for playing at any
scheduled time and the program randomly picks a file from the folder
associated with the time in the schedule file.
If anyone wants the Ampichron, let me know and I'll post that one as
well as the newer version of the Carillon. The programs all work from
text files that are edited for the scheduling and selecting options,
such as the media player to use. I was going to write a graphical
version, but found better ways to waste my time. The Carillon program
will also play other media files such as MP-3, if configured properly.
There is a document explaining how to use the program that comes with
the download, but it does require some computer understanding.
