Seek Old Style Steel Slotted Head Wood Screws
By Reg Smith

Does anyone know of a current source for plain steel slotted wood
screws? I frequently use sizes #4 x 1/2" and #4 x 5/8" and today's
hardware stores seem to only have Phillips head, brass or anodized
screws. Apparently plain steel screws are no longer made here in
the USA.

I found a supplier in the UK several years ago and purchased a few
boxes from him but they were rather crudely made, with oversized
slots and rough finish and threads. If anyone is aware of a supplier
who still has old stock wood screws please let me know.
