Seek Player Piano Tubing and Hose Suppliers
By John Rutoskey

Howard Goldberg asked about Player Piano Company's supplier for rubber
tubing. In later years, about the only thing I ever purchased from
PPCo was some of their rubber cloth, natural gray tracker bar tubing,
and plastic glue.

I especially liked the stock number #23 gray tracker bar tubing and #25
gray expression tubing. PPCo also had a smaller #22 9/64 I.D. tubing
that was perfect for Aeolian or any other player where the tubing had
to be a slightly smaller O.D. to pass through holes. I would very much
like to know how I can continue to order this tubing.

I used to buy their tubing hundreds of feet at a time. When my current
stock is gone, I don't yet know if I can replace it. Does anyone know
who made it and how to get it? Certainly someone that was affiliated
with PPCo knows the answers.

I continually buy Schaff Piano Supply's larger I.D. black cloth covered
hose, but they do not stock the items I mentioned above. No one has
said whether or not Schaff has any interest in improving their player
supplies listing, but I'd say now would be a good time.

What about the plastic glue that PPCo conveniently sold for so many
years for applying Nylon cloth? What is the commercially-available
equivalent now?

Does anyone know who made the speed controller pods for the PPCo
suction boxes, which were so nicely contained in shallow cup for
mounting under the keyboard? I can make the electronics easily,
since I have the schematics for it, but where can I get that black
aluminum cup? The overall quality of the PPCo suction box diminished
over the years, but the speed control unit was a very nice design.
