Removing a Grand Player Piano Pump from Duo-Art
By Pete Knobloch

Hi Robert, This is what I do to remove the rather heavy pump from
a Duo-Art grand. I first place a blanket on the floor to catch any
dirt that might fall on the carpeting.

The first thing to do is remove the motor. Remove the belt and the
two screws that hold the metal support rods to the wood motor mount.
The motor will then swing down on the two mounting hooks. Be sure to
do this slowly since the motor is heavy and there should be two other
screws in slots that should be loose but may be missing, causing the
motor to drop to the floor prematurely.

Lift the motor off of the hooks on the main pump. Now remove the hoses
going to the pump. Also remove any linkage that might be attached to
the mounting brackets.

I can do this next step myself but it is much safer to have a second
person around to remove the screws. Take a pillow and a 2 x 2 foot
square piece of plywood and brace it up against the large pulley with
your knee. Have the other person remove the mounting screws that
hold the pump on the piano. Now gently lower the pump onto the top of
your belly and then to the floor. Reverse the procedure to reinstall
the pump.

Hope this helps.
