The ultimate in recycling -- make a piano roll cabinet out of a piano!
A local antique dealer killed an old carved upright piano but I rescued
the carved side panels from the burn pile (he was only interested in
the ornate front panel).
With the keyboard key desk protrusions removed I had two great side
pieces; I used the other cabinet parts for cross-framing members and
even used the lid for the top. A piece of plywood replaced the sounding
board area. All I have to do is construct two doors.
Watching architectural salvage places could even yield great Mission
Style stained & leaded clear glass windows to be fitted in the doors.
The best part is, you have something old, unique and it holds lots of
rolls!
