New Aeolian Pipe Organ Web Site Podcast
By Bob Taylor

I continue to work on making better sound files of Aeolian Organ
opus 1280. As I posted here earlier, my Podcast 2 on my organ web
site is going to offer an ever changing sample of music from the
Aeolian Duo-Art Organ.

The latest change was posted today and celebrates "Meritorious
Performances". Three rolls were selected to serve as a bridge to our
organ heritage. Duo-Art rolls, played on the Duo-Art Organ are time
capsules which release treasures that are otherwise not available.
The bridge also connects us to the composers of the late nineteenth
and early twentieth century as the roll performers studied under
some of them.

The recordings are not perfect as the organ is a work in progress
and I am still learning audio recording techniques. One big challenge
is keeping two sets of trumpets in tune with each other, and in this
release, there are many examples of dueling trumpets. (This organ
has six reed ranks, and all are used in podcast 2). Even the small
Echo organ is demonstrated and, with some technical help, I compensated
for the uninstalled swell shutters on that division.

There is no new popular music this time. The music is from Liszt,
Saint-Saens, and Guilmant. The performers are Clarence Eddy, Charles
Courboin, and William Carl. The podcast 2 is found at:

   http://web.me.com/bobtaylor5/aeolian/Podcast_2/Podcast_2.html

which is part of a larger web site with other examples.

Those of you have visited my podcasts before will notice better
channel separation, less rumbling bass (more real), and better room
reverberation. Some technical issues still remain. The squirrels
still run across the roof during quiet passages but at least they are
not dropping acorns on the skylights! (That happens in the fall.)
