Play a Wurlitzer Harp for Elevator "Muzak"
By Stephen Kent Goodman

Now that Muzak Holdings is filing for bankruptcy, it would "open
the door" to put Wurlitzer player harps "on location" in countless
elevators! The elevator cabs auxiliary socket could be used, except
when it is needed it for the vacuum cleaner. It would give new meaning
to the term "elevator music". The only question is, would the tuning
change as the elevator climbed and descended? I mean, some of those
buildings are really high.

[ Established in 1934, Muzak was the first background music subscription
[ service. Franchises for seven western states were purchased in 1939
[ by Richard Simonton, who after WW2 'discovered' the Welte-Mignon in
[ Germany. In 1958 Simonton purchased a controlling interest in the
[ Mississippi Steamer Delta Queen and soon installed a steam calliope
[ aboard the paddlewheel boat. -- Robbie
