Supplies for Rebuilding a Player Piano
By John Farmer

I, too, hope that someone will take over PPCo. as soon as possible.
About eighteen months ago, my manufacturer of rubber cloth in the UK
announced he could no longer make the two thinnest grades of cloth
(new machinery = progress?).

So I started buying from PPCo. At their top discount rate I was able
to buy from them and still sell to my customers at a comparable price
to the UK cloth. However, looking around at other US suppliers, I
find that their prices are considerably higher than PPCo's price was.
The weakening of the British pound is making it worse.

If anyone knows who manufactures the PPCo cloth, I would appreciate
learning who that is. Fortunately I bought some cloth from PPCo just
before Christmas, so I have supplies for a couple of months. But there
are also the V-springs, graphite, leather buttons, etc., that I need.
I could get rubber cloth made by other companies in the UK, but with no
track record, it is very risky.

Regarding the queries about tubing, I sell fourteen sizes of silicone
rubber tubing, which is used by most UK restorers. Sizes from 1/8" to
1 1/4" (1.25") are stocked. It isn't cheap, but U.S. buyers will
benefit a little from the dollar/pound exchange rate. Check out my web
site: http://www.musicanic.com . I will be happy to send small samples
to genuine enquirers.
