Hi, all. The message below comes from my sister, an experienced book
editor and also a lifelong mechanical music enthusiast. She's working
on a project that will help bring some mainstream attention to the
charms of the reproducing piano.
"For an important upcoming book, a major publisher is looking for
an original reproducing-piano roll recorded by George Gershwin.
Our first choice would be the Duo-Art "Rhapsody in Blue, Part I,"
but we would be happy to consider other composed-by-Gershwin,
recorded-by-Gershwin rolls. We would like to show the box as well
as the roll. The condition does not have to be perfect. The
photography will probably be done in Manhattan. Ideally, the owner
of the roll would be available to bring it to the photographer's
studio and handle it personally. No compensation, but a grateful
acknowledgment from everyone involved with the book. Please
contact editor Laaren Brown at laaren@earthlink.net.geentroep
(deleting .geentroep) if you have a suitable roll and are
interested in participating."
Thanks on behalf of my sister Laaren.
