The city hall of Buffalo, New York, has been giving "Block Grant"
funds right and left -- $190K to remodel a commercially impossible
diner in the slums, for example; millions to construct an imitation
Erie Canal port, for another.
It could be nice to use some of that $$ to keep piano roll
manufacturing in the city. Without the roll making, that QRS building
will be essentially worthless property, so it makes sense to keep it
on the tax list. Perhaps the few remaining employees could be persuaded
to make an offer to keep the operation going. I'd volunteer, but have
no experience beyond being a mechanical music fan.
