There is a lot more QRS can do to boost roll sales. There is also
more that _we_ can and should do.
I service player pianos. I used to get roll catalogs from QRS and
hand them out to my customers. My customers really appreciated the
catalogs and when I would return to service and tune these player
pianos, I would often notice several new QRS rolls added to there
collections. QRS used to charge me for the roll shipping but no
charge for the catalogs.
I got lazy in recent years and stopped handing out the catalogs,
thinking nothing of it. Now I regret not doing my part to keep the
production of new rolls going. How about QRS selling rolls on eBay?
How about sending roll catalogs to the presidents of all AMICA and
MBSI chapters to hand out at meetings, conventions, band organ rallies
and other functions?
I really appreciate John Tuttle for listing me as a player piano
technician and Player Piano Company. (John and Player Piano Company
sell QRS rolls.) I'm sure other player piano technicians appreciate
John and PPCo as well and would be happy to return the favor and send
business there way. Perhaps those of us, in particular, who are player
technicians listed at player-care.com, could add more rolls to our own
personal collections out of appreciation for John.
It's real nice for Wall Street that they have politician friends in
Washington to bail them out. We should do all we can to help QRS,
Player Piano Company and others in business to prosper because it is
up to the automatic musical instrument community. I will copy this
and send to QRS; they should try what I suggest.
