[ Ref.: Ivory Keytops Violate eBay Wildlife Policy ]
Beginning January 1st, 2009, eBay will ban the sale of ivory on all
its sites, according to an article at the web site of New Scientist
magazine:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn15007-ebay-ivory-ban-is-good-news-for-elephants.html
Since I sell pianos on eBay, I just asked them if pianos with ivory
key tops can be sold. The representative said yes, pianos with ivory
keys can still be sold on eBay. To quote the New Scientist article:
"... eBay has decided to simplify matters by banning all ivory
sales except of items pre-dating 1900 and containing only small
amounts of ivory, such as pianos with ivory keys."
Now, does this mean only pre-1900 pianos are saleable? The eBay
representative didn't say that to me. We'll see what happens!
