G'day all, I wish to bring this to the attention to all MMD subscribers
here who list their instruments on eBay. I listed my player grand on
eBay (Australia) site and within 12 hours the listing was cancelled.
Here is a copy of their reason:
We appreciate that you chose eBay to list the following auction-style
listings : Grand Pianola. However, your (s) violates eBay's Animals,
Plants and Wildlife policy and has been removed. In accordance with
our User Agreement, items prohibited by law or by eBay policy are not
allowed on eBay. We notified members who placed bids on the item
that the listing has been canceled. Since the sale of live animals
and wildlife products is in some cases prohibited, highly regulated,
or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers are restricted in
their listing of them on eBay.
The sale of Ivory on eBay Australia is not permitted.
I have since removed the word "Ivory" and have relisted the item,
and in doing so I got charged another listing fee again. I feel this
was very unfair, and this is just a warning to others that eBay in
other countries may also start to crack down on this. They must feel
that selling a player piano is now the black market for today's ivory
dealings.
