Pat DeWitt asks in the 081125 MMD about books on restoring cylinder
musical boxes.
For basic principles, the books of Graham Webb and H.A.V. Bulleid are
both good. To which one could add one or more of the many books by
Arthur W.J.G. Ord-Hume, such as "Restoring Musical Boxes and Musical
Clocks" (1997).
Webb does have some ideas which today might be regarded as quaint, such
as replacing a broken click-spring by a safety pin. However, if actual
repairs are to be done, you will need the much fuller detail in the
articles by Roesch, Heckert, Bornand, et al. in the MBSI's "Silver
Anniversary Collection" (1974; ISBN 0-915000-00-8), much of which can
also be found scattered through articles in the Bulletins and Journals
of the MBSI, all available online at the MBSI website.
You will also need restoration supplies, for which Nancy Fratti in
