Rolls for Peerless "Wisteria" Orchestrion
By Nicholas Simons

I am surprised by the continuing saga of the question of what to do
with a Peerless "Wisteria" and the possibility of changing its format,
or even fitting MIDI control.

There is only one answer -- restore it to the original design and
get recut original rolls. Anyone competent enough to be a reader
of MMDigest will also be able to discover that Frank Himpsl has six
Peerless "O" rolls available so there is no shortage of music.

As for fitting MIDI, please do not ruin any old instruments with this
abomination. It may well be reversible but it is not original. Keep
MIDI for new instruments. Mechanical instruments were designed to be
played mechanically.

Regards from a purist,
Nicholas Simons, UK
