DeBence Museum received a nice table model Symphonion disc music box
as a donation several years ago. As is true for many items that are
donated to us, it needed a lot of restoration work. The work is now
completed and, as we suspected, the single damaged Symphonion song sheet
[disc] that came with it is not playable. There were some modified
Regina discs with it that play notes, but not any recognizable tunes.
In short, we need some proper Symphonion discs. They are 13.6 inches
outside diameter [34.5 cm, Disc No. 30] and have a center drive pin.
We don't have much money to spend as we went into debt to finish the
state-mandated installation of a new elevator this year, and some of
our grant funding seems to be in danger due to the recent financial
situation in the country, but we can probably come up with a few
dollars for some proper discs. I am hoping someone will tell us where
to find some.
