For sale: Ampico A mechanism, complete, removed from a Mason & Hamlin
grand piano. From the 1928 date and the air motor for driving the
rolls, I believe this is a Model A Ampico.
In 2007, I had a PianoDisc installed in my 1928 5'8" Mason and Hamlin
grand. This device replaced the Ampico reproducing mechanism that had
stopped playing some years earlier. I purchased the piano in 1966 and
I play it (manually) almost every day. I had limited service from the
Ampico until about five years ago. The Ampico parts were carefully
removed and are almost entirely original, some of the smaller tubing
having been replaced and the belt from the motor to the pump.
The Ampico parts are taking up space in my garage and I wish to dispose
of them. I also have about 75 rolls for this player and reproductions
of some service manuals. Please contact me if interested. I live in
Lake Lure, North Carolina, about an hour from Asheville.
