Seek Amphion Recordo Patent Numbers
By John A. Tuttle

Hi All, I haven't forgotten the Cable Solo-Carola project, but
I got an airmail letter from a gentleman in Australia who is desperate
to find a tubing schematic for the Amphion Recordo system.

I checked the MMD Archives pretty thoroughly and only found one
posting that mentions the system. Oddly enough (or not), it came from
a different person in Australia. However, the name of the piano into
which the Record system is installed is identical. So, evidently the
owner is still trying to get the system back to its full expression
capabilities.

From what I've been told, the system now works as a regular player
piano. I don't know if the expression components have been restored,
but work has been halted because there is no tubing diagram.

Personally speaking, since all Recordo system used the same trackerbar
layout, it would seem to me that figuring out any oddities within the
Amphion-made system shouldn't be that hard to unwind (or reverse
engineer). I have already sent information about the trackerbar layout
and most of the standard Amphion components. But, I was unable to
locate a picture or a diagram of the expression mechanism. To that
end, I asked the gentleman to send me any patent numbers he can locate
on any of the parts. Having those numbers has proven to be a Godsend
in terms of collecting very accurate and detailed information via
Google Patent Search -- a portion of Google that wasn't around five
years ago when this topic was first addressed.

So, if anyone has anything stashed away somewhere, and you're willing
to share or sell the information, please contact me at my usual address:
