Wurlitzer Band Organ Registration Controls
By Justin Senneff

Dear Readers: If the little Wurlitzer 105 band organ, for example,
has pipes in the melody division like Violin or Piccolo, etc.,
why weren't the roll arrangements made to have solos for them,
once in a while? Wouldn't the arranger have tried to make the
organ sound more orchestra-like as it possibly could?

Cordially,
Justin Senneff

[ The answer is probably that the extra expense of the added stops
[ doesn't increase the sales. If the Piccolo rank is to play solo
[ then the rest of the organ must be quieted somehow, which means
[ that the other divisions must also have pipes and stops for loud and
[ soft playing. A few European organ scales provide this capability
[ with "Forte" and "Piano" stops controlling lots of ranks. -- Robbie
